Published in The New Yorker on October 10, 2005, a dog at home plate with a leash in his mouth, waits for the pitcher to walk him. Shanahan (1957-present) has been cartooning for over 30 years. He started in the eighties as the unofficial cartoonist for the United States Tennis Association, thanks to a recommendation from his friend Mark McEnroe. His arrest in 2020 on pornography charges ended his career.
